Details

A new mounting system from Daedalus Technologies, the DAESSY Lite Mount builds on years of experience and quality.

Designed for lightweight devices, tablets and iPads, this new system of stainless steel tubes and aluminum components has numerous possibilities to hold lighter technology in place on table and desk edges.

The DAESSY Lite Desk Mount uses the Manfrotto SuperClamp to anchor it's unique mounting arms to desk edges and tabletops.

End Fittings

As standard, the DAESSY Lite Desk Mount comes with a Lite Mount Quick Release Base which is compatible with all genuine and non-genuine DAESSY Device Adapters, DAESSY Survivor Twist or DAESSY Standard iPad Holders.  A RAM Mounts Adapter can be substituted if required.

Add the option Quick Handle to your Lite Mount Quick Release Base to allow easy deivce positioning at the attachment end (NOTE: The Quick Handle reduces the weight limit of the attached technology to 1 kg.)

Manfrotto SuperClamp Limits

The Manfrotto SuperClamp has been a popular product for holding equipment in place on square edges or round tubing. Unlike the rest of the DAESSY Lite Desk Mount, the SuperClamp has not been specifically designed for mounting assistive technology and is used in camera mounts and lighting fittings. To that end, the re-purposing of the SuperClamp has it's limitations, which are:

  • The clamp jaws can't be opened any wider than 3.5 cm - this means your table or desk edge must not have a thickness greater than the jaws capacity otherwise atatchment is not possible
  • The clamp uses a mechanical thread to close the jaws so it can only be as tightended with the screw handle, no tools required. Although this is convenient, it is also not perfect as you can only tighten the clamp as much as you can wind the handle.
  • The round tube option (removing the included plug in the SuperClamp jaws) can tend to rotate aroound the axis of round tube if the mount kit is extended more horizontally than vertically. This is especially true when the weight of the attached device is at the mount's limit and the arms are extended extensively in the horizontal and thge SuperClamp is attached to horizontal tubing.

So best to avoid thick table/desk edges, powered-coated horizontal tubing and extending the arms out a long way from the attachment point.
