Two years ago AbleNet set out to develop an access tool that harnessed the power of the iPad for individuals with disabilities. Along the way they encountered and overcome multiple development challenges, a credit to their dedication to the project.

Today we are proud to announce that Connect is now shipping to Australia and is available through Communicate AT.

About Connect

Connect's access solution unlocks the power of the iPad mobile device for users with significant physical disabilities. Connect provides switch accessibility, brilliant sound, and exceptional design to create a one of a kind solution for the iPad.

Accessibility

For individuals unable to use a multi-touch display they can use one or two wired or wireless external switches. Or, use one of the built in capacitive touch switches. An app with switch access built in or iOS Switch Control are required for switch use

App Compatibility

Connect is compatible with iOS apps that utilize the keystroke combinations of Space and Enter, 1 and 3, or ~1 and ~3 to recognize a switch input.

Mounting

The AbleNet Universal Mounting Plate is required to mount Connect to a mounting arm.

Connect supports single or dual switch use and includes two integrated capacitive touch switches on the front cover of Connect. In addition, wired switches with 3.5 mm mono plugs as well as the Mini Beamer, Jelly Beamer, and Big Beamer wireless switch transmitters are compatible with Connect.
