Christmas Message from Communicate AT 2021

Firstly, thank you one and all. To all that purchased their assistive technology throughout 2021 with us, we're so thankful for your support. I hope we've helped you with your technology journey.

This year has been the most challenging year I can recall in 20-odd years of involvement in the Australian assistive technology community. The need for how-to knowledge and decision-making support, the equipment provisioning leg work of quoting and eventually the order fulfilment role all came with the challenge of protecting our people and stretched our capacity ot respond. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your patience with us, I know we've been hard to speak to directly and email correspondence with so your understanding through the last 18 months has made a world of difference. 

Over that period and especially the last nine months of 2021, two outcomes have been quite evident.

The first being the need for Assistive Technology to help people living with disability was never greater nor more important. Adding to that, we can't see this need abating into next year and can only see it becoming more important.

The second is that we, Communicate AT, need to be better prepared and even more organised to respond to your needs. This year has showed us that the systems we have in place just didn't cope with a scattered work force and the flood of need we experienced. It has been heavily circled in my "continuous improvement to-do list" for a while.

To that end, we're going to break earlier this year and come back a little later in January.  We do this so we can refresh not only ourselves after a very busy eighteen months of peddling fast but also to put in place some of those "back-of-house" improvements that will serve us all better next year and ongoing.
